Brigit's Mantle (Irish Creation Myth), 18
x 24
WulfWorks© Copyright 2002
In the
beginning, the Goddess Brigit heard
Earth singing
in the pit of chaos and she felt compassion
for the planet.
She called to the gods to go with her to bring gifts to
Earth,
because its song was so beautiful. Once there, she laid her
mantle
over the ground and immediately Earth grew green,
and the waters
flowed. But one of the younger gods grew
impatient and jumped down
upon the mantle before it had
finished unfurling, which stopped
it from opening any
further. The land beneath her mantle still remains.
Today it is called Ireland.

What is
magic? Why, it's nothing more than
using our imagination!
All our dreams will come true as soon as
we relax and let them in.
The woman in red has found the secret to
magic. She has
manifested the shining star between
her hands
by dreaming her dreams and following her
bliss.

God and
Goddess as one within the circle
of the Tao.
As the ages
pass one face or the other may
be more recognized
by humanity.
Over the past five thousand
years or so, the male
aspect of God
has been more recognized
and honored. Now,
in this new
millennium, remembrance
of the Goddess returns
as more and
more people open to the feminine aspect of life.

Perhaps we have
all been imprisoned within
the stone of our
own perception
of limitation. What if
we were to simply step out?
Our crystal
prison may seem to limit
us, but in reality it
offers total
freedom, as well as great
wisdom and power.
